Marilyn Chambers - died on April 12, 2009; dead at the age of 56
Marilyn Chambers is the biggest name in the history of adult entertainment. She started the porn revolution. Marilyn Chambers was the first beauty to have sex on camera. Marilyn Chambers is probably best known for her role in the 1972 blockbuster film Behind The Green Door. Marilyn Chambers saw an advertisement for a casting call and rushed to the audition, only to find it was for a pornographic film. She was about to leave when producers Artie and Jim Mitchell noticed her noticed her resemblance to Cybill Shepherd and agreed a wholesome blond actress was needed for the film. After filming concluded, she informed them that she was "the Ivory Snow Girl"; the Mitchells capitalized on this by billing her as the "99 and 44/100% pure" girl. Although she said at the time that the film would help "sell a lot more soap", Procter & Gamble quickly dropped her after discovering her double life as an adult-film actress, and the advertising industry was scandalized. The fact that Chambers image was so well known from Ivory Snow boosted the films ticket sales, and led to several jokes on television talk shows. Nearly every adult film she made following this incident featured a cameo of her Ivory Snow box.
Unusually Chambers does not have a single word of dialogue in the entire film. After engaging in lesbian sex with a group of women she has sex with the African-Amberican boxer Johnny Keyes. This possibly makes BTGD the first U.S. feature-length hardcore film to include an interracial sex scene. The porn industry and viewing public were shocked by the then-taboo spectacle of a white woman having sex with a black man. Chambers was relatively unknown prior to BTGD, however the film made her a star. Critics have since debated whether she was really having orgasms in her scenes or just acting. On April 12, 2009, Chambers was found dead in her home in Santa Clarita, California. Documents found with her body identified her as Marilyn Ann Taylor, presumably the name she assumed after a marriage. She was discovered by her 17-year-old daughter, McKenna Marie Taylor. Lovelace is one of the best-known names in porn history, despite appearing in
only a handful of films in the early 1970's. She's a well-endowed brunette with

Lovelace was thrust into the national spotlight in 1972 with her starring role
in 'Deep Throat,' one of the all-time classics of erotic entertainment. It was a

Savannah started out in the porn industry in 1991 as Silver Kane, appearing in several films. She made over 80 adult films over her short 3 year career. Savannah was a well liked feature dancer appearing in many of the top strip clubs throughout the United States. Savannah was often paid as much as $5,000 per night dancing. John was born John Curtis Estes on August 8, 1944 in Pickaway County, Ohio. A
sensitive youngster, John was a bible student for 11 years in Pataskala, Ohio.
To escape the shadow of a brutal and domineering stepfather, he dropped out of
high school and joined the army at an early age. After his military stint, he
headed to Southern California and the fledgling porno industry and in the late
1960's he began his career.
John soon fell into hustling and male prostitution, which only hastened his
burgeoning drug addiction. His self-destructive tendencies hit their nadir when
he was implicated in the notorious 'Laurel Canyon' murders which took place at
8763 Wonderland Avenue. He was allegedly present at the drug-related torture and
murder of his drug dealing friend, Bill Deverell, and the murders of another man
and two women, Holmes refused to divulge what he knew. He was acquitted of any
wrongdoing in 1981 and then attempted to clean up his act and resume his career.
His attempts soon ended, though, when he was diagnosed with the deadly AIDS
virus. John's years of unchecked sexual romping has caught up with him. He died
of AIDS-related complications in Sepulveda, California in March 1988 with his
then-wife pornstress by his side. He was 43 years old. John was the first male
elected to both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame, a true legend in his own time.
